The Kidney Disease and Screening Awareness Program (KDSAP) was created by Dr. Li-Li Hsiao (Brigham and Women's Hospital) in 2008. KDSAP is a student-run organization with three primary objectives:
1. Providing free kidney screenings and health education to underserved communities
2. Furthering students' personal and career development
3. Increasing interest in nephrology careers
Penn's chapter of KDSAP is comprised of volunteers from the 4 undergraduate schools at Penn, the Perelman School of Medicine, and Penn Medicine. Based in Philadelphia, Penn KDSAP works with doctors and community leaders to service the community through providing free kidney screenings (our student volunteers are clinically trained) and health education.
